Keeping Your Site Accurate Makes a Good Impression
When your website is up to date, nobody really
notices. But when your site has outdated information,
old copyright dates, broken links or other errors, it
really stands out! For that reason, it makes good
sense to schedule time each month to review your
entire site.
Run a link checker program to be sure links within
your site structure (as well as outbound links) are still
working. Frequently the IRS and your local
Department of Revenue change page locations,
navigation structures and more. This can cause the
URL of individual pages to change, too. What about
link exchanges? Check the sites that are supposed to
be linking to you. Is your link still visible and active? If
not, you'll want to remove the exchanged link from your
site.
Check your copyright notice, employee bios and About
Us page to ensure they stay current. Staying on top of
things will give a consistently good impression to your
visitors.
