Google AdWords: A Step-by-Step Tutorial - Choosing Keywords
In the last issue, we discussed setting parameters for
AdWords campaigns. Once you have done that, the
second step is to choose your keyphrases. Whatever
you do, don’t guess! There are some very helpful
tools available that provide specifics on what your
potential clients are actually searching for. It’s much
better to use solid data when making your selections
than to guess.
My personal favorites for keyword research are
WordTracker.com and the Google AdWords keyword
selection tool. WordTracker has a free trial version.
The Google tool is free to AdWords clients. Both will
give you reliable data to guide your decisions.
Look for phrases that are popular and also relevant. It
may be that your clients use different terms than you
do when referring to forms, laws, etc. Be open to
buying phrases that are familiar to your clients. Don’t
avoid them simply because they might not be
technically correct.
